Today’s endorsers join previous endorsements from Beaufort County that include Senator Tom Davis, former Senator Scott Richardson, County Council Chairman Paul Sommerville, former Chair of the Beaufort County Republican Party Rachel Buie, Beaufort County Councilman Jerry Stewart, and Joe Fragale, Commissioner for the South Carolina Human Affairs Commission.

Outside of Beaufort County, today’s endorsements cap of a week of newly announced support for Sanford, including former Congressional candidates Elizabeth Moffly, Keith Blandford, and Jeff King, as well as the Republican Liberty Caucus, a coalition of tea party and liberty movement activist.

State Senator Tom Davis said that today’s announcement shows Sanford as a clear favorite in Beaufort.

“Mark grew up in Beaufort and has family here, and folks here know he has Beaufort’s interests in mind, whether it’s protecting our bases, establishing the Jasper Port, or protecting quality of life,” Davis said. “More than anything, people here know that Mark will stand up to the big spenders in Congress, regardless of party.”

Sanford thanked his new supports.

“It’s incredibly humbling to see so many folks in the community I called home growing up stepping forward to support our candidacy,” Sanford said. “What we saw Tuesday night is that people in the first district want a Congressman who not only talks the talk on debt and deficits, but walks the walk as well. I believe my record in both Columbia and Congress demonstrates a unique set of credentials when it comes to watching out for taxpayers, and if elected, something I will carry forward.”
